Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men’s Lacrosse Falls at No. 13/14 Michigan to Open 2024 Season

Michael Boehm and Justin Tiernan tallied five goals each to pace No. 13/14 Michigan in a 21-5 victory over Canisius in collegiate men's lacrosse action Tuesday at the U-M Lacrosse Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Boehm and Tiernan paced a balanced Wolverines (1-1) attack that saw 13 different players register a point. Boehm added a pair of assists to lead all players with seven points while Tiernan (5g/1a), Ryan Cohen (2g/4a) and Bo Lockwood (1g/5a) all finished with six points each for the home team.

Senior Jackson Webster notched a career-high four goals for the Golden Griffins (0-1) while fellow senior Keegan Kozack accounted for the fifth Canisius goal. Senior Hunter Parucki dished out a pair of assists. Sophomore Micah Hanson scooped up a team-high seven ground balls.

Michigan never trailed in the contest as it used a Tiernan hat trick in the opening 6:05 of the game to ignite a seven-goal outburst that gave the Wolverines a comfortable advantage just over 10 minutes into the contest.

Webster temporarily halted the Michigan surge, getting Canisius on the board with 2:38 to play in the opening frame, but a trio of tallies in the final 1:46 of the quarter put Michigan in front by a 10-1 margin after 15 minutes.

Michigan continued to control the pace of play in the second quarter, scoring the first five goals registered in the frame on its way to building a 15-2 cushion heading into the halftime break.

The second half saw the Wolverines lead by as many as 15 on three separate occasions as it cruised to its first win of the season.
