The Canisius University Sports Medicine Department is housed in the Center for Athletic Training. The state-of-the art facility, centrally located in the Koessler Athletic Center, is utilized for event and practice preparation and is fully equipped for preventative maintenance and acute and chronic injury rehabilitation. The Center houses private offices for the University’s team physicians and full-time Certified Athletic Trainers who serve the needs of Canisius’ student-athletes. An adjacent Hydrotherapy area compliments the Center in providing the highest quality care for Canisius student-athletes.
The Griffs have two physicians who provide care on a regular basis to the University’s student-athletes. Head Team Physician, Dr. Rajiv Jain, covers home events and visits campus for general and sports medicine examinations. Dr. Keith Stube, Team Orthopedic Surgeon, is on campus regular basis. Six full-time Certified Athletic Trainers provide coverage to all 21 varsity Division 1 Intercollegiate sports coverage in both their traditional and non-traditional seasons. Canisius Sports Medicine has a collaborative relationship with the school’s Student Health Center in efforts of ensuring health and safety for those donning the Blue and Gold.
