Canisius volleyball head coach Tom Hanna announced the addition of Ismali Diyani as the team’s assistant coach ahead of the 2023 season.

Prior to Canisius, Diyani played on the Missouri Valley College men’s volleyball team from 2018-2022, primarily as a middle blocker. A two-time Daktronics Academic All-American, he helped the Vikings punch their ticket to the 2021 NAIA Men’s Volleyball National Championship.

During his senior season in 2022, the El Jadida, Morocco, native played in 66 sets, notching 68 total kills for a 1.03 kills-per-set average, 30 total blocks and 86.5 total points.

"I am looking forward to working with Coach Hanna and helping the team succeed in what we aim to do this season," Diyani said.

Diyani is also no stranger to Canisius as his brother, Mohamed, served as an assistant coach under former Canisius head coach and current Northeastern head coach Lenika Vazquez during the 2017 season.

Diyani earned his undergraduate degree in finance with a minor in computer science. He is pursuing his masters in finance at the university.
