Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Drops Road Contest to Mount St. Mary’s (Pa.)

Junior Dylan Rice scored his second goal in as many contests in the 41st minute, but it was not enough as Mount St. Mary's defeated Canisius, 2-1, on Saturday in men's collegiate soccer action in Emmitsburg, Md.

The Mountaineers claimed their second MAAC win of the campaign, bringing them to 2-6-2 overall and 2-2-1 in conference. The Golden Griffins, meanwhile, slipped to 1-9-4 overall and 0-4-2 in the MAAC with the setback.

Game Recap:
In a game plagued by continuous rain, both teams got off to a slow start, with a shot not being registered until the 22nd minute when Ely Sidibe fired a shot that sailed over the top post.

Both teams found a rhythm After Sidibe's opening salvo, with the Mountaineers being the first to strike. At the 24:04 mark, Kris Kolar Leban made a quick touch on the ball to sneak it by junior Canisius goalkeeper Jack Petrie, putting Mount St. Mary's up, 1-0.

Rice brought the Griffs level at the 40:16 mark of regulation, taking a shot from the top of the Mountaineer box and getting a deflection of a defender to ricochet the ball past Mount keeper Ethan Russell.

The game remained knotted at 1-all until the 71st minute, when Maks Czyz broke the tie with a right-footed blast that proved to be the game-winning goal.

Rice almost tied the game up once more as his header in the 83rd minute was narrowly tipped away by the keeper.

Petrie ended the game with three saves on 15 shots faced, while Russell made two saves, facing six shots from Canisius.
