Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer falls to Marist, 3-1

Richard Morel scored two unassisted goals to lead Marist to a 3-1 victory over Canisius in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men's soccer action Saturday at the Demske Sports Complex.

The Red Foxes saw their record climb to 6-5-3 overall and 4-2-2 in the MAAC with the win while the Golden Griffins slid to 1-10-5 overall and 0-5-3 in league play with the setback.

GAME RECAP
Junior midfielder Dylan Rice gave Canisius a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute of the match as he received a looping cross into the Marist box from sophomore Kyle Pollard and made a diving kick to put the ball and past Marist goalkeeper Luca Bulfon.

The Red Foxes answered quickly after Canisius' opening salvo, as Morel found a loose ball coming off a Marist corner kick and buried the shot to tie the game at 1-all in the 30th minute. In the 35th minute, a Skyler Cunha corner kick connected with the head of Torge Witteborg to put the Red Foxes up, 2-1, heading into halftime.

The Griffs had some early chances in the second half, with sophomore midfielder Daniel Longo and junior forward Ely Sidibe putting up shots on goal, but both were unable to capitalize on their attempts to bring the Griffs level.

Marist added some insurance in the final minutes, with Morel scoring his second of the game off an unassisted strike from the top of the Canisius box to determine the two-goal final margin.

Canisius goalkeeper Spencer Catalano had seven saves in the match, while Bulfon made two saves in the contest in goal for the visitors.
