Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Parucki’s Overtime Marker Lifts Men’s Lacrosse Past Robert Morris

Senior midfielder Hunter Parucki scored 18 seconds into overtime to propel Canisius to a 9-8 victory against Robert Morris in collegiate men's lacrosse action Saturday at Joe Walton Stadium in Moon Township, Pa.

Parucki's overtime marker highlighted a balanced Golden Griffins attack (2-2) that saw seven different players record a goal in the contest. Junior Mikey Howe and freshman Mason Wolford tallied two goals each while five players finished with one goal each.

Junior Tommy Kunz recorded 15 saves between the pipes while sophomore Micah Hanson went 10-of-19 at the face off "X" with a game-high eight ground balls.

Elliott Holden scored four goals and added two assists to pace the Colonials (1-3). Nate Fletcher made seven saves in goal for RMU while Bo Columbus finished with eight face-off wins.

Trailing 7-5 early in the fourth quarter, Canisius used three straight goals from Howe, Wolford and freshman Quinn Huber during a more-than five-minute span to grab an 8-7 lead with 5:50 to play in regulation.

The Colonials were able to knot the score before the end of regulation as Elliott notched his fourth of the game with 1:42 to play to send the game to overtime.

During the extra session, RMU turned the ball over on the opening possession, give the Griffs the ball deep in their end of the field. During Canisius' ensuing clear attempt, Parucki received a pass from fellow senior Jackson Webster at midfield and was knocked to the ground, but was able to maintain possession and get back to his feet before racing down the middle of the field and unleashing a shot from 12 yards out that beat Fletcher inside the right post to give the Griffs the win.

Earlier in the contest, the Griffs trailed 1-0 before rattling off four unanswered goals to grab a 4-1 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

RMU controlled play for most of the next two-plus quarters, embarking on a 6-1 run over a 32:50 span to build a two-goal cushion that the Griffs would erase with its fourth-quarter surge.

HEAD COACH MARK MIYASHITA'S POSTGAME COMMENTS
"Today was the result of staying together as a team thought the 60 minutes of regulation and overtime.

"The boys didn't waiver in their belief in one another when things weren't always smooth at various times in the game. After four games in 12 days, all on the road, we look forward to getting back to work and being back home at the Demske next Friday against a very-good Cleveland State squad.
