Hockey Falls in Overtime Versus Niagara

Josef Mysak scored 23 seconds into overtime to give Niagara a 3-2 victory over Canisius in Atlantic Hockey Association action Tuesday at LECOM Harborcenter in downtown Buffalo.

Johnny Wiscoe and Luke Mylmok also scored for the Purple Eagles (11-14-2, 9-8-2 AHA). Mitchel Day recorded a career-high 38 saves between the pipes for the visitors to earn the win.

Sophomore Robert Kincaid and senior Randy Hernandez accounted for the two goals for the Golden Griffins (9-16-3, 8-9-3 AHA). Freshman netminder Ethan Robertson finished the evening with 34 saves.

Mysak scored the game-winning goal on the first shift of overtime as he put home a loose puck from just off the right post after Carter Randklev's initial attempt from the left side went wide and ricocheted off the end boards to an unmarked Mysak.

Earlier in the contest, Wescoe gave the visitors a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal at the 9:39 mark of the first period, beating Robertson with wrist shot over the glove from the middle of the slot for his fourth of the campaign.

Mylmok doubled the Purple Eagles advantage to 2-0 just before the four-minute mark of the second, tapping in Wallace's centering feed for his seventh of the campaign.

Kincaid got the Griffs on the board with 14:25 elapsed in the middle frame, beating Day with a wrist shot from the right face-off circle for his second goal of the campaign to make it a 2-1 contest.
Hernandez brought the Griffs level with a power-play tally at the 6:17 mark of the third, one-timing a feed from senior David Melaragni past an outstretched Day from the bottom of the left face-off circle for his eighth of the campaign to tie the game at 2-2, setting the stage for Mysak's overtime heroics.   POSTGAME COMMENTS GAME NOTES
