Hockey Shutout by Bentley Friday

Ryan Mansfield scored two goals and Connor Hasley stopped all 32 shots he faced to lead Bentley to a 3-0 victory over Canisius in Atlantic Hockey Association action Friday at LECOM Harborcenter in downtown Buffalo.

Ethan Leyh also scored for the Falcons (15-16-0, 11-12-0 AHA) while Arlo Merritt dished out two assists.

Freshman goaltender Ethan Robertson recorded 23 stops in goal for the Golden Griffins (9-17-3, 8-10-3 AHA).

Leyh opened the scoring with a power-play goal at the 15:51 mark of the first period, beating Robertson with a wrist shot over right shoulder from the right face-off circle to give Bentley the lead.

Mansfield doubled the Falcons advantage less than three minutes later, jamming home a loose puck from just off the right post to make it a 2-0 contest.

Mansfield netted his second of the contest just over two minutes into the second period, firing a wrist shot past the glove of Robertson on the rush to expand the Bentley cushion to 3-0.

That would be all the support Hasley needed, as he turned aside all 32 shots he faced, including 15 during the third period, to record the shutout.

Canisius has a pair of attempts find the post during the contest as freshmen Matteo Giampa and Trey Funk both had shots ring off the left pipe during game play in the second and third periods, respectively.
