Moran and Appenheimer Recieve All-MAAC Accolades at MAAC Championships

Graduate Student Tom Appenheimer garnered All-MAAC accolades for a fourth straight season and graduate student Olivia Moran received All-MAAC accolades for the first time to pace the Canisius men's and women's cross country teams Saturday in the 2023 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships at the Twin Ponds on the Farm in Montgomery, N.Y.
 
In the men's 8k race, Appenheimer finished 10th with a time of 25:09.6. Sophomore Kyle Urban claimed 18th, crossing the finish line with a time of 25:44.2, while seniors Max Chew (26:17.9) and Ronan McDonald (26:21.7) placed 27th and 28th, respectively. Brody Jones (26:28.0) rounded out Canisius' scoring runners in 31st.
 
The men placed fourth with a team total of 102 points. Iona won its 33rd-consecutive men's title with team total of 19 points as the Gaels had seven runners finish in the top 10. Siena was second with 81 team points while Rider (90) was third.
 
Moran led the Canisius women, claiming 2nd overall with a time of 20:56.8 over the 6k course for the Griffs best individual finish since 2018. Junior Kayla Schmidt (22:06.9) placed 17th and graduate student Marissa Silba (23:10.8) finished 33rd. Senior Jules Jones (23:20.7/38th) and sophomore Jacqueline Appenheimer (23:32.0/40th) completed Canisius' scoring runners.
 
The women placed fifth with a team total of 125 points. Quinnipiac captured the women's team title as the Bobcats finished with team total of 31 points, placing its five scoring runners in the top 10. Iona placed second with 40 team points while Siena (87) was third and Rider (117) claimed fourth.
