The Canisius men's and women's outdoor track teams made an appearance in the UB Alumni Invite Saturday in Buffalo, N.Y.
Senior Maura Jordan led the way on the women's side, winning the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.97. Jordan also placed third in the 100 meter dash, crossing the finish line in 12.86. Junior Taylor Heschke placed second in the 5000m, posting a time of 18:42.26.
Junior Kayla Schmidt and sophomore Jacqueline Appenheimer both posted a pair of top-10 finishes in the 1500m and 800m races. Schmidt placed third in the 1500m (4:43.50) and fourth in the 800m (2:24.04), while Appenheimer took seventh in the 1500m (5:40.32) and fifth in the 800m (2:24.04).
Senior Jules Jones also competed in the 1500m, placing sixth in 4:48.23 to give the Griffs their third top-10 finish in that event. Freshman Aniya Hugley also recorded a top 10 in the 200 meter dash placing ninth with a time of 27.12.
Freshman Ella Herman added another top-10 finish, placing 10th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:14.29.
On the men's side, sophomore Joseph Pivarunas led the way with a second-place finish in the 3000m steeplechase, crossing the line in 10:01.65. Graduate student Tom Appenheimer claimed ninth place in the 1500m, finishing in 4:02.97.
Graduate student Dominic Clementi (1:59.07) and sophomore Braden Tent (1:59.21) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 800m to give Canisius two more top-10 finishers.
