Men's Soccer Drops Match to St. Bonaventure Wednesday

Box Score St. Bonaventure netted three goals early in the second half to break open a close contest and record a 4-0 victory against Little Three rival Canisius in collegiate men's soccer action Wednesday at the Marra Field Complex in Olean, N.Y.

The Bonnies saw their overall record climb to 3-3-1 with the victory while the loss moved the Golden Griffins to 1-6-1 on the season.

GAME RECAP
St. Bonaventure opened the scoring in the 36th minute when Umechi Akuazaoku put home a rebound after Marius Skattum Dahl's initial attempt was stopped by Canisius keeper Spencer Catalano to put the Bonnies up before the break.

Sophomore midfielder Daniel Longo had multiple scoring chances for Canisius in the first half, including a hard shot outside of the box narrowly deflected off the fingers of the St. Bonaventure keeper Jules Dechart.

SBU doubled its lead in the 52nd minute as Rafael Pereira found Andres Javitt to make it a 2-0 contest.

Kenzo Brito extended the Bonnies advantage to 3-0 at the 57:47 mark, successfully converting on a penalty-kick opportunity after Canisius was called for a foul in the box.

Daniel Helle closed out the scoring in the 65th minute, sending a looping shot into the net to determine the final margin.
