Swimming and Diving Fall in Season Finale to St. Bonaventure

Freshman breaststroke swimmer Cassandra Ercoli picked up a pair of top finishes along with six podium finishes in the distance events as the Canisius men's and women's swimming and diving teams closed out the regular season against Little Three rival St. Bonaventure Saturday afternoon in the Reilly Center Pool in Olean, N.Y. in collegiate swimming and diving action.

The Bonnies defeated the Golden Griffins on both sides, picking up a 189-105 win for the men and a 187-96 victory for the women's squad.

Ercoli extended her impressive rookie year performance in Olean by securing victories in the 100 and 200 breaststroke once again. Following her success against John Carroll in Buffalo last weekend, she replicated her achievements today with impressive times of 1:08.15 and 2:30.24 in the respective events.

Junior Ashley Allaire led the way for the distance swimmers this afternoon, finishing first in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time 11:06.04. The Griffs swept the women's side of this event, with senior Megan Campbell (11:27.60) and freshman Mia McDonnell (11:31.44) following behind Allaire.

Freshman Luke Critchlow continued the distance success for the Griffs placing second in the men's 1000 free with a time 10:02.09.

The men's relay team of Marin de Villard, Ben Yant, Toby Mayfield and Alexander Hiltbrand secured a victory in the 400 free relay to finish the meet with a time of 3:10.64

De Villard also finished with a victory in the 200 back, posting a time of 1:51.22.
