A three-run homer off the bat of Christian Smith powered Quinnipiac to a 10-5 victory over Canisius Sunday in collegiate baseball action at Quinnipiac Baseball Field in Hamden, Conn.

The Bobcats complete the series sweep of the Golden Griffins, moving to 6-6 in conference play and 14-21 overall. The Griffs move to 11-21 on the season and 5-7 in the MAAC.

Quinnipiac was able to plate one run in the first inning of the ball game as Christopher Willis drove in a runner with a single. Sophomore Tommy Sheridan tied the game at 1-1 in the third inning with an RBI double that drove in junior Jackson Strong.

After tying the game in the third, the Bobcats would retake the lead for good, scoring six unanswered between the third and fifth innings. This scoring surge was punctuated by Smith's three-run homer in the fourth inning that put the score a 7-1.

In the fifth, the Griffs would get a run back with an RBI single from senior Carlin Dick that drove in Strong once again. Dick, Strong and redshirt junior Josh Niles all recorded multiple hits for the Griffs.

Canisius starter, sophomore Felix Morin, is saddled with the loss after 3.0 innings pitched with two runs allowed.

The Bobcats would extend the lead out to 10-2 in the top half of the fifth inning as Jared Zimbardo singled with the bases loaded to plate two runners and Keegan O'Connor drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

Junior Tyler Hoover would notch the first RBI's of his collegiate career in the eighth inning, scoring Niles and graduate Kenny Dodson cut the Bobcat lead to six runs.
