Highlighted by senior Maura Jordan's third place result in the finals of the women's 400m race, the Canisius men's and women's indoor track teams closed out the 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships Sunday at the Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory in New York City.
After winning her preliminary heat during qualifying on Saturday, Jordan claimed third in the final of the women's 400m race as she crossed the finish line in 57.20, a little less than two seconds back of Quinnipiac's Rylie Smith (55.36), to break her own previous school record.
Sophomore Jacqueline Appenheimer (5:06.26) and graduate student Marissa Silba (5:11.60) both posted top-10 finishes in the women's one-mile race, finishing seventh and ninth, respectively.
Graduate Student Olivia Moran also posted a top-five finish, claiming fourth in the women's 3000-meter race with a time of 9:56.23. Junior Kayla Schmidt placed second in her heat and 13th overall, crossing the line at 10:12.48.
On the men's side, graduate student Andrew Perreault was the lone finals qualifier and placed fourth in the men's one-mile race, finishing with a time of 4:09.18.
The men's 4x800m team consisting of senior Ronan McDonald, sophomore Joe Pivarunas, graduate student Dominic Clementi, and sophomore Braden Tent claimed fifth place crossing the line at 7:58.21.
