Golf Has Strong Performance on Day One at Sacred Heart

Freshman Alex Schickling shot a one-over par 73 and junior Ryan Edholm shot a four-over 76 on the first day of the Sacred Heart Fall Classic Sunday at Great river Golf Club in Milford, Conn.

Schickling's 73 has him in a four-way tie for fourth place after the first 18 holes of the tournament. Edholm's 76 places him in a five-way tie for 11th on the leaderboard. Sacred Heart golfers Marcus Lim and Mike Rothburg are tied atop the leaderboard after both golfers shot a one-under par 71.

As a team, Canisius posted a team-score of 310, which places the Golden Griffins in fourth place. The Blue and Gold are seven strokes behind third-place Fairfield. Sacred Heart leads the team portion of the tournament after the Pioneers carded a team-score of 291 on Sunday.

The second round of the Sacred Heart Classic is scheduled to tee off Monday at 10 a.m.
