Golf Places Seventh at 2024 MAAC Golf Championship

Canisius freshmen Jake Dantonio and Mikey Takacs each fired even-par scores of 72 to earn top-25 finishes, as the golf team closed out the final round of the 2024 MAAC Golf Championship Sunday afternoon at Disney's Palm Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
 
As a team, the Golden Griffins finished the day with a team score of 299 for a tournament total of 894, which placed the Blue and Gold in seventh place.
 
Dantonio's 72, his lowest round of the season, allowed him to earn a tie for 18th in the field after he finished the three-day tournament with a score of 221, which was five-over par. Junior Ryan Edholm, who shot 75 on Sunday, also earned a tie for 18th in the event.
 
Takacs' 72, which featured an eagle-two on the par-4 ninth hole, helped him move up the leaderboard seven spots, as he finished in a tie for 25th with his tournament score of 224.
 
Siena won the 2024 MAAC Golf Championship with a three-round team score of 860, which was three strokes better than second-place Fairfield. Rider's Ben Ortwein won individual medalist honors after he posted a 69 on his scorecard on Sunday, allowing him to finish the tournament with a 54-hole score of 212.
