Ramold Leads Golf in 2024 Spring Opening Event

The Canisius golf team opened the 2024 spring season on Saturday, as the Golden Griffins took part in the first round of the Carpetbagger Classic at Worthington Manor Golf Club in Urbana, Md. As a team, Canisius posted a score of 323.

Junior Ben Ramold led the Griffs with his 78. Freshmen Jacob Dantonio and Mikey Takacs each carded an 81 in the Blue and Gold's first event since Oct. 17, 2023.

Rhode Island posted a team-score of 293 in the opening round to take the 18-hole lead in the team event. Rhode Island's Geronimo Narizzano's two-under par score of 70 has him sitting in first place in the individual portion of the tournament. Narizzano's score of 70 made him one of four golfers in the 78-player field to record a round under-par on Saturday.

The second and final round of the Carpetbagger Classic will be played Sunday morning, with a shotgun start set for 9:30 a.m.
