Golf Tied for Ninth After Day One at Coca-Cola Invitational

Three Canisius golfers shot 77s and the Golden Griffins posted a team score of 309 in the first round of the Albarta Coca-Cola Invitational Sunday afternoon at Northampton Country Club in Easton, Pa.

Freshmen Mikey Takacs and Jake Dantonio and junior Ryan Edholm all posted 77s on the par-72 course Sunday, and all three players are tied for 35th in the field. Canisius freshman Alex Schickling posted a six-over 78 in the first round and is tied for 44th on the leaderboard.

As a team, Canisius is tied for ninth with Monmouth, as both teams posted a team score of 309. Lehigh leads the team portion of the tournament after the Mountain Hawks shot a team score of 288, which is even-par.

The second round of the Albarta Coca-Cola Invitational will tee-off at 9 a.m., on Monday.
