Hall of Fame
• Opened the season with a dominant 61-0 win over St. Francis (Pa.) in the first Western New York college football game broadcast on live TV.
• Defeated previously undefeated St. Bonaventure by a score of 14-6 at Civic Field in front of 32,541 fans.
• Outscored their opponents 242-109 during the season, with the defense holding opposition to seven or fewer points six times throughout the year.
• On Dec. 5, 1948, the team made their first and only postseason appearance in the second Great Lakes Bowl against John Carroll University at Cleveland Municipal Stadium, but would lose by a score of 14-13.
• Six members of the 1948 40-man football roster are individually inducted in the Sports Hall of Fame.
