• Both a coach and player for the Golden Griffins,and also played football
• In football, he scored eight points in seven games in 1934, placing him third behind fellow greats Frank Rustich and Joe Szar
• A triple threat halfback, great runner, superb punter, and a good passer, he was also very strong defensively
• Played forward in basketball, infielder in baseball and played multiple roles as a member of the football program
• Would go on to coach the basketball team after graduating in 1935
