Mike Rappl, Class of 1977, MS '80, Softball coach (1980-2014)

  • Rappl complied an overall record of 831-526-2 overall record, including a MAAC record of 330-124 through 35 years of coaching
  • First coach to earn 800 wins in the MAAC, was also the first to reach 600 and 700 wins
  • Griffs earned 13 MAAC regular season titles, 12 MAAC Tournament championships and 11 trips to the NCAA Division I Softball Tournament
  • Coached the program to the MAAC Softball Championahip tournament 21 times in the last 25 years, with the team advancing to the championship 17 of those times
  • Griffs recorded 14 straight seasons with 20 wins from 1989-2002, along with eight 30-win seasons and 22 straight winning campaigns, stretching from 1981-2002
  • The 1993 squad set a then-NCAA record of 35 consecutive wins, en route to a 36-3 overall record and the best winning percentage in a single season (.923) in school history
  • 831 career wins ranks Rappl as one of the top-60 coaches in Division I Softball history
  • Rappl also coached the women's basketball team to a 93-94 overall record from 1986-1993
  • Previously served as associate director for facility operations at Canisius, and in November 2007, was inducted into the Western New York Softball Hall of Fame
