• At the age of 17, he was the youngest player for the Golden Griffins and was an immediate force for the team
• In their 17-14 win over St. Bonaventure, which was in front of 40,000 fans, he single-handedly scored every point and would help lead his team to the Little Three championship
• Acting as a quarterback, halfback and kicker during his sophomore season, he completed 56.8% of his passes for 411 yards and 9 TDs and leading them to a second consecutive Little Three title and first-ever postseason appearance
• He also played baseball for Canisius from 1949-50
