• Honorable mention Little All-American in 1949 and played with the Eastern New York College All Star team
• As a natural right guard, he played both offense and defense for the Golden Griffins
• As a member of the Eastern NY College All Star team, they defeated the New York Giants in 1949
• After graduation, he was offered a pro contract with the Giants, but turned it down and took a position with the Greater Buffalo Press
• He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II
